Prediction of Soil-Water Characteristic Curves of Four Subgrade Materials using a Modified Perera Model

One of the main hydraulic properties unsaturated soils is Soil-Water Characteristic Curve (SWCC). It essential to understand, predict soil water storage and determine mechanical behaviour soils. These curves can be obtained by direct indirect measurements. The measurements obtain these are expensive, delicate perform really slow for fine soils, so predictive models become necessary. In order make a numerical model, couple identification tests were carried out physical each sample among four subgrade materials collected in regions Dakar Thies (Senegal). measurement matric suction then conducted depending on nature material (fine-grained or coarse-grained soil) allowed draw SWCC soil. Among numerous developed last decades; this study used Perera model fit (04) materials, which did not give satisfactory coefficient correlation (R2 = 58% relatively low sum squared residuals (SSR)).
